A young, urbanising market with a large inbound tourism sector. Covers foodservice channels, how imports reach kitchens, access requirements and a directory of Turkish importers.
Türkiye combines a young population of roughly 85 million, rapid urbanisation and a large, recovering inbound-tourism sector. Published estimates of the foodservice market vary more than in most countries and it is worth knowing why before quoting a number: they range from roughly USD 14–15 billion on a profit-sector basis (Mordor Intelligence) to about USD 23 billion (MarketLine, 2024) and up to some USD 44 billion on the widest definitions. The differences are about scope — which channels and which parts of the institutional sector are counted — rather than about disagreement on the market's direction.
For a foreign supplier the route runs through importer-distributors that handle customs, certification and national distribution; Bidfood Türkiye and g2m are leading examples of the professional foodservice tier. This study sets out market size and structure under each definition, profiles the players, explains the access requirements for suppliers from the EU, from non-EU Europe and from outside Europe — Türkiye's customs union with the EU matters here and is treated explicitly — identifies the categories with the strongest prospects, and provides a directory of Turkish importers and foodservice distributors.
