Europe's fourth- or fifth-largest toy market, sold through toy chains and large generalist stores. Covers channels, access requirements and a directory of Spanish importers and distributors.
The Spanish market for traditional toys stands in a range of EUR 1,200 to 1,400 million in retail sales in recent years, and reaches EUR 1,500 million or more depending on the source and on whether video games and baby care items are included. Spain is Europe's fourth or fifth largest market by size, and published figures vary appreciably because each data provider measures on a different scope.
Distribution combines vertical toy chains with generalist large-format stores — Carrefour, Alcampo/Auchan — which buy relevant volumes of own brand and private label, a realistic entry route for a foreign manufacturer still without brand awareness in Spain. Between the product and the shelf there is almost always a Spanish importer or distributor, not the retailer directly. This study is aimed at manufacturers and brand owners established outside Spain, discusses the size and structure of the market and the legal and technical requirements for marketing toys, and includes a directory of importers, distributors and retailers that import on their own account.
