One of Europe's largest hospitality markets, sustained by domestic demand and tourism. Covers cash & carry and foodservice distribution, access rules and a directory of Spanish importers.
Spain's commercial foodservice sector turns over on the order of EUR 130 billion a year according to 2025 estimates, after a sharp recovery in recent years. It is one of the largest hospitality markets in Europe relative to its population, sustained by both domestic consumption and tourism, and with an establishment density far above the European average.
Distribution is led by a handful of national operators and is organised along two routes. On one side cash & carry — Makro, GM Cash and Gros Mercat — where the hospitality operator buys on a self-service basis; on the other, full-range delivered distributors such as Bidfood, Pro a Pro, DDI and Qualianza. For a foreign supplier, entry is decided by getting listed with one of them, not by direct selling to the restaurant. This study covers market volume and structure, the leading operators, access requirements by supplier origin and the categories with the best prospects, and includes a directory of Spanish importers and distributors in the HORECA channel.
