A large restaurant market in a volatile economy. Covers how foodservice is supplied, import requirements and a directory of Argentine importers and distributors serving hotels and restaurants.
Estimates of the Argentine restaurant market range between USD 17 billion and USD 35 billion for 2025 depending on the scope and the source: IMARC puts it at around USD 17.6 billion, with a projection of some USD 45.7 billion for 2034 at a compound rate of close to 11% a year, while Bonafide estimates it at about USD 35 billion. The commercial sector measured in local currency was around ARS 4.1 trillion in 2023, equivalent to some USD 14 billion, with very high nominal growth rates driven by inflation.
That dispersion means any figure must be read together with its definition, and this study identifies the source of every data point it cites. In distribution, cash & carry wholesale chains — Makro, Maxiconsumo, Diarco and Vital, among others — are the most realistic point of entry for a foreign supplier, ahead of direct sales to restaurants. The study sets out the market's volume and structure, the leading operators, the access requirements according to the supplier's origin and the categories with the strongest prospects, and includes a directory of Argentine importers and distributors in the HORECA channel.
