An open restaurant market with strong demand for imported food. Covers cash & carry and private-label routes, access requirements and a directory of Peruvian importers and distributors.
Restaurant-channel sales in Peru are estimated at between USD 8,000 and 10,000 million, growing at an annual rate in the order of 7% to 10%, on a food retail market of approximately USD 23,000 million. Consumer-oriented food imports amount to around USD 1,900 million a year, a figure that shows how open the market is to foreign product.
Access runs through two main routes: cash & carry operators — Makro, Mayorsa and Corporación Vega — and the private-label programmes of the retail groups, which usually require less marketing investment than a brand launch and are decided on specification, price and audit. This study covers the volume and structure of the market, the main operators, the access requirements by supplier origin and the categories with the best prospects, and includes a directory of Peruvian importers and distributors in the HORECA channel.
