Baby & Toddler Products in Poland Market volume, key players, opportunities, access requirements and directory of importers, distributors and directly importing retailers for foreign suppliers of branded and private-label products Product scope: all categories presented at trade fairs such as Kind + Jugend (Cologne) – prams and strollers, car seats, nursery furniture and textiles, sleep, feeding and care, safety products, carriers, baby and children's fashion, toys and ride-ons.
Poland is the largest consumer market in Central and Eastern Europe (37.3 million inhabitants) and a structurally attractive, although demographically challenged, market for baby and toddler products. Births fell to about 238,000 in 2025 – the lowest level since 1945 and more than 40 % below 2017 – yet spending on children keeps rising. According to OC&C Strategy Consultants, sales of toys, clothing and other children's products reached around PLN 15 bn (≈ EUR 3.5 bn) in 2024 and are expected to exceed PLN 17 bn by 2029.
The market is driven by "fewer children, more spending per child": rising real incomes, generous family transfers (800+ child benefit, the 'Babciowe' / Aktywny Rodzic childcare benefit) and premiumisation. Average annual spending per child was about EUR 540 in 2024, forecast to exceed EUR 680 by 2029 – still well below the UK (EUR 1,280), Italy (EUR 950) or Spain (EUR 830). This gap is the core growth argument for foreign brands with a clear quality or design edge.
Key findings for foreign suppliers:
• Structure: a strong domestic brand layer (Canpol babies, LOVI, BabyOno, Kinderkraft, Lionelo, Caretero, Espiro etc.) competes on value; international premium brands (Cybex, Britax Römer, Maxi-Cosi, Chicco, Philips Avent, LEGO) dominate the upper segments. The space in between – well-designed mid-premium products with a clear functional benefit – is where new entrants find distributors most willingly.
• Channels: e-commerce is the largest single channel (≈ one third of sales; Allegro is the dominant marketplace), followed by specialist chains (Smyk), independent baby stores supplied by wholesalers, drugstores (Rossmann, Hebe, Super-Pharm), discounters (Pepco, Action, Biedronka, Lidl) and hypermarkets.
• Route to market: most foreign brands enter through an exclusive or category-exclusive Polish distributor (e.g. AICO, Marini, IKS 2, Baby & Travel, Angre, Stokkids; for toys Artyk, TM Toys, Brimarex, Dante, EPEE). Private-label opportunities exist with Pepco, Smyk, Rossmann, the discounters and Polish brand owners that source from abroad (4Kraft, BrandLine, IKS 2).
• Hub function: several Polish distributors also serve Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and the Baltic states – a Polish partner can open a CEE region of ~70 million consumers.
• Compliance: EU product safety law (GPSR, Toy Safety Directive/EN 71, UN R129 for car seats, EN standards for childcare articles), Polish-language labelling and EPR registration (BDO) are prerequisites. Non-EU suppliers additionally need an EU-based importer/responsible person and face customs duties; since 1 July 2026 a flat EUR 3 duty per item applies to low-value B2C parcels.
