The HoReCa / Foodservice Market in Indonesia A guide for foreign suppliers of branded and private-label products Market volume • Key players • Opportunities • Market access requirements Directory of HoReCa importers and distribution partners
Indonesia is the largest foodservice market in ASEAN. The USDA values the Hotel-Restaurant-Institutional sector at USD 29 billion for 2024, spread across some 231,500 outlets and now above pre-pandemic levels; broader models that include the informal segment reach far higher — USD 50.3 billion for 2025 with a forecast of USD 129.5 billion by 2034 (IMARC), or USD 62.4 billion for 2025 (Mordor Intelligence). For planning purposes the USDA figure is the most conservative and the most relevant, because it counts the outlets a foreign supplier can actually sell into. The fundamentals behind that market are 282 million inhabitants, a young and urbanising population, and 13.9 million international visitors in 2024, including 2.4 million from Europe and 2.0 million from Oceania. Consumer-oriented food imports reached USD 8.6 billion in 2024, up from USD 8.3 billion. Digital ordering is not a side channel here: online food and beverage spending reached USD 12.9 billion in 2024, the largest e-commerce category in the country, with delivery alone accounting for USD 5.4 billion. This study includes a directory of Indonesian importers and foodservice distributors.
