A Reference Guide for Foreign Suppliers of Branded and Private-Label Products Market volume · key players · access requirements (EU / non-EU Europe / non-European) · importer & distribution- partner directory · product opportunities
The Danish out-of-home profit sector — restaurants, hotels, cafés, bars, catering and travel — generated revenue of approximately DKK 85 billion (around USD 12.3 billion) in 2023, up from about DKK 78 billion before the pandemic in 2019. Full-service restaurants are the largest single channel at roughly 36% of profit-sector value, followed by quick-service and the pub and bar segment. Distribution is highly concentrated: three broadline groups — Dansk Cater, Dagrofa Foodservice and Hørkram — dominate, and most operators are reached mainly through them. For a foreign supplier that cuts both ways: the number of doors to knock on is small, but each listing decision carries disproportionate weight. This study assesses the market from the perspective of a supplier that already sells successfully abroad and now wants to introduce its brands or supply private-label products in Denmark. It sets out the access requirements for suppliers from the EU, from non-EU Europe and from outside Europe, and provides a directory of Danish importers and foodservice distributors.
